Message from the President: Plans for the New Term

Message from the President

Dear Members of the Polish Phlebological Society,

Dear Friends,

Taking on the role of President of the Polish Phlebological Society is a great honour for me. In the upcoming term, I intend to continue the efforts initiated by my predecessors and undertake new initiatives for the further development of the Society and integration of the phlebological community.

We plan to organise more advanced phlebology courses. Particularly important will be the development of "Master Class" programmes, conducted by outstanding experts from Poland and abroad, which will provide opportunities to master advanced techniques for treating venous insufficiency.

Further cooperation with international organisations such as the American Venous Forum and European Venous Forum will also play an important role. This cooperation gives members of our Society access to the latest guidelines, achievements and technologies in the treatment of venous disease. The exchange of experience is extremely valuable, which is why we also plan to strengthen cooperation with the Société Française de Phlébologie, enabling the implementation of joint educational and scientific projects.

The key upcoming event will be the European Venous Forum congress, which we are co-organising in Kraków in June 2025. This prestigious congress is not only an opportunity to present the achievements of Polish phlebology on the international stage but also a chance to establish new contacts with leading specialists from Europe. Entrusting us with the co-organisation of this event is a recognition of the Society's international activity to date. We will make every effort to ensure that, thanks to grants and reduced congress fees created especially for this occasion, as many Polish doctors as possible can take an active part in it. Thanks to Prof. Tomasz Urbanek's efforts, we obtained a significant reduction in congress fees for active Society members, and by decision of the Board, we plan to reduce it by a further EUR 100. We hope this will allow a large group of doctors to take advantage of this unique opportunity to exchange experience and knowledge.

Because of the EVF congress, I do not plan to organise a separate scientific and educational conference of the Polish Phlebological Society. The continued popularity and high attendance of Aesthetic Phlebology, World Thrombosis Day and Advances in Vascular Surgery mean that in the coming year we will focus on supporting these initiatives by organising specialised courses and educational meetings with renowned lecturers from Poland and abroad.

Mindful of young phlebologists, we intend to support existing mentoring and training programmes so that they have the chance to build their careers at the highest international level.

In summary, I expect that the current term will contribute to the further dynamic development of the Polish Phlebological Society as an institution supporting education, research and clinical practice in the field of venous disease. I encourage active participation in events, courses and programmes, as well as joint efforts to put our plans into practice. Only together can we shape the future of phlebology in Poland and worldwide.

As Christmas and the New Year 2025 approach, I wish you a joyful Christmas in a warm family atmosphere and every success in the New Year.

Prof. Piotr Terlecki
President of the Polish Phlebological Society
