Word from the President

Dear Members of the Polish Phlebology Society,

Dear Friends,

Taking on the role of President of the Polish Phlebology Society is a great honor for me. In the upcoming term, I intend to continue the efforts initiated by my predecessors and undertake new initiatives for the further development of the Society and integration of the phlebological community.

We plan to intensify the organization of advanced phlebology courses. Particularly important will be the development of "Master Class" programs, conducted by outstanding experts from Poland and abroad, which will provide opportunities to master advanced techniques for treating venous insufficiency.

Further cooperation with international organizations such as the American Venous Forum and European Venous Forum will also play an important role. This cooperation ensures our Society members access to the latest guidelines, achievements, and technologies in vein disease treatment. Mutual exchange of experiences is extremely valuable, which is why we also plan to strengthen cooperation with the Société Française de Phlébologie, enabling the implementation of joint educational and scientific projects.

The upcoming key event will be co-organizing the European Venous Forum congress in June 2025 in Krakow. This prestigious congress is not only an opportunity to present the achievements of Polish phlebology on the international stage but also a chance to establish new contacts with leading specialists from Europe. Entrusting us with the co-organization of this event is proof of recognition for the Society's previous activity in the international dimension. We will make every effort to ensure that, thanks to grant systems and discounts in congress fees created especially for this occasion, as many Polish doctors as possible can take active part in it. Thanks to Prof. Tomasz Urbanek's efforts, we obtained a significant reduction in congress fees for active Society members, and by the Board's decision, we plan to reduce it by another 100 euros. We hope this will allow a large group of doctors to take advantage of this unique opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge.

In connection with the EVF congress, I do not plan to organize a separate scientific-educational conference of the Polish Phlebology Society. The unchanging popularity and high attendance that Aesthetic Phlebology, World Thrombosis Day, or Advances in Vascular Surgery enjoy mean that in the coming year we will focus on continuing activities supporting these initiatives through organizing specialized courses and educational meetings with recognized lecturers from Poland and abroad.

Remembering young phlebologists, we intend to support existing mentoring and training programs so they have a chance to build their careers at the highest world level.

In summary, I expect that the current term will contribute to the further dynamic development of the Polish Phlebology Society as an institution supporting education, research, and clinical practice in the area of vein diseases. I encourage active participation in events, courses, and programs, as well as joint effort to implement our plans. Only together can we shape the future of phlebology in Poland and worldwide.

In connection with the approaching Christmas holidays and New Year 2025, I wish you Joyful Christmas spent in a warm, family atmosphere and all prosperity in the New Year.

Prof. Piotr Terlecki
President of the Polish Phlebology Society
